What is it?
The Manchester Legal Walk is a 10km sponsored walk around Manchester to raise money for local advice services.
Why do we walk?
The need for free legal advice centres has grown in the past few years. The recession has increased poverty and reduced support services. Meanwhile funding for the advice centres themselves has reduced. The organisations the NWLST support:
• Prevent families being made homeless
• Prevent destitution
• Help older people gain the support to which they are entitled
• Help women and children who have been trafficked for domestic servitude or prostitution.
Why should you take part?
The NWLST simply can’t overcome the effects of the huge reduction in government and local authority funding over the past few years. What they can do is to ensure that many of the people most in need get help who would otherwise have been denied.
By taking part in the Manchester Legal Walk and seeking sponsorship from your friends, family and colleagues, you will be helping to secure vital funds needed for this important cause.

What will happen on the day?
The MYSG team will meet outside Manchester Civil Justice Centre at 5pm to register and collect their t-shirts (kindly donated by Search Legal). Once this has been done we will be ready to set off on the 10km walk!
